Hi ronnn777,
What are the futures on? Commodities, Forex...
I do not have enough info to make a recommendation of which tax structure you should be trading.
We do offer a free service that clarify this for you. To register for this service and receive a questionnaire go to: http://www.tradersaccounting.com/index.php You will see the registration block on the right side of the page.

The futures would be taxed as 60% long term 40% short term regardless of the holding period. Please see the other post about cash forex and the tax treatment.
